About the author
Yousef Fathi has been an entrepreneur since 2019. Over these years Yousef has started and run several online businesses, mostly mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play and content websites, and has taken each one from an idea to paying customers. Several of them now earn thousands of dollars every month, and one app has passed 100,000 downloads.
Running these businesses means owning every decision, not only the product: which market to enter, whether people will pay for an idea before it is built, how the product makes money, and where each dollar of the budget goes. Some ideas worked and grew; others were stopped early, and each one taught a lesson that shaped the next.
Yousef runs several products at the same time with a remote team: SEO specialists for the websites, app store optimization specialists for the apps, media buyers for paid campaigns on Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat, and content creators who make the creatives. Yousef hires these people, sets their plans and reviews their results every week.
It all started with code. Yousef began as a developer, built apps for clients as a Flutter developer on Mostaql, an Arabic freelance marketplace, and finished every project there with a five-star rating. That background still makes it possible to build a new product quickly and test it with real users.
Hodorak came out of this work. Across every business, the hardest part was finding the first customers without burning money on ads, and the best of them were often people asking for help in public: in Facebook groups, on Reddit, on X and on LinkedIn. Yousef built Hodorak to find those requests every day, and writes here about practical ways to reach customers, based on what has worked across these businesses.

Here is how to get photography clients before you pay for ads: find people already asking for a photographer in local groups, send work that matches the shoot, and reply with one clear next step.
